The Vintage Contessa's New York Adventures Continued...

The Vintage Contessa shares more of her favorite NYC shopping spots
Our second day of adventures continued with the habitual yet never monotonous pilgrimage to Barneys. Beginning with a predictable yet fabulous lunch at Freds, I just missed the ever so stylish Olsen Twins who reportedly flirted with my handsome husband and our darling French friend Frederic while I unknowingly shopped downstairs. We wrapped up lunch with the purchase of a basic black knee length pencil skirt to go with my new colorful Vintage finds and an edgy yet comfy pair of black jeans that look like leather from Rag and Bone. The handbag department had wonderful eye candy including personalized Goyard Trunks, an incredible Celine Sheering bag and the vintage style Fendi baguette.

The afternoon continued with vintage shopping at Resurrection at 217 Mott. I found the most amazing pieces by Halston, YSL and Blass. Specifically, I fell in love with a Bill Blass Bordeaux Caftan.

The yummy store across the street (Only Hearts) had the most amazing sassy vintage pink feather like bolero in the window that seemed to be like a puppy wagging its tail at me, saying “buy me”. Of course, I succumbed.

Then last but certainly not least, I stumbled upon Patricia Field’s NoHo sanctuary. www.patriciafield.com/

The New York stylist from Sex and the City, Ugly Betty, Confessions of a Shopaholic and The Devil Wears Prada created so many over the top looks with pairings that seemed on the verge of seeming laughable. In time, however, her style influenced our daily choices to the point that the Sex and the City star’s wardrobes almost created a cult like following. The iconic Carrie necklace will always be engrained in my head.

My favorite piece, however, that made it back to Houston, was the playful Tom Wood Eiffel Tower bag that Carrie held while waiting with Big and all their Louis Vuitton Luggage in front of their Uptown Apartment.

Trend : Polka Dots and Patent

The Vintage Contessa SPOTS out Fall's trends...

The new "spot on" trend (couldn’t resist) is POLKA DOTS. What a great combo, the nostalgia of patent and polka dots? Just last week Who What Wear showed celebs wearing the trend. www.whowhatwear.com/website/full-article/trend-report-polka-dots-2161/

Marilyns polka dots are the most memorable of all polka dots in my mind.  www.google.com/imgres

Bridget Bardot made polka dot pants looks sexy. www.google.com/imgres

Carrie Bradshaw rarely wore polka dots, but when she did, she pulled off another whimsey look. www.google.com/imgres

Catherine Deneuve showed her discreet charm in a polka dot skirt. www.google.com/imgres

I spotted a fab vintage style ad for Kate Spade with a black dress, white polka dots and shocking pink leather gloves with a shocking pink underlay. How utterly 1950’s retro? And the name of the bag in the ad… The Kennedy Bag, with a bow. I wonder what Kennedy she is channeling? Hmmm…
